Highlighting the deteriorating and hazardous condition of police housing colonies in Navi Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray faction) has made a strong appeal to the authorities for their immediate redevelopment. The party's delegation, after a ground visit to several police colonies, stressed the need to ensure the safety and dignity of police personnel and their families through modern and well-equipped housing.
Police personnel residing in colonies located in Belapur and Vashi are reportedly living in extremely poor conditions, with issues such as water leakage, dilapidated infrastructure, and lack of basic safety features worsening by the day. The colonies in Turbhe MIDC and Rabale MIDC are described as unfit for habitation altogether.
Redevelopment Through CIDCO or MHADA Sought
Led by Shiv Sena Deputy Leader Vitthal More, a delegation submitted formal representations to the Navi Mumbai Municipal Commissioner, Police Commissioner, and CIDCO Vice Chairman and Managing Director. The delegation demanded structural audits and infrastructure assessments of the affected colonies, with a view to undertaking urgent redevelopment through MHADA, SRA, or CIDCO.
Call to Restore Dignity for Police Families
Shiv Sena reiterated that it is imperative for the government to act swiftly and provide police personnel and their families with safe, respectable, and modern housing. “This is not just about infrastructure, but about the dignity and safety of those who serve to protect us,” said Deputy City Chief Sameer Bagwan.

Present at the submission were Vitthal More, Navi Mumbai Liaison Chief M.K. Madavi, Airoli District Chief Pravin Mhatre, Belapur District Chief Prakash Patil, Deputy District Chief Atul Kulkarni, Santosh Ghosalkar, Sumitra Kadu, Sandeep Patil, City Chief Mahesh Kotiwale, former corporator Vishal Sasane, and former transport member and Deputy City Chief Sameer Bagwan, among other office-bearers.
