Navi Mumbai News: NMMC Launches Cancer Screening Van Drive From May 21 To 24; Check Details

The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will operate a special cancer screening van from May 21 to May 24 at several locations in the city.

Navi Mumbai: In a significant step toward early cancer detection, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) will operate a special Cancer Screening Van from May 21 to May 24, offering free screening for oral, breast, and cervical cancers across different locations in the city.

As part of the National Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Screening Program, NMMC already conducts daily health check-ups for individuals above 30 years of age at hospitals and civic health centers. These screenings include high blood pressure, diabetes, and cancer detection, with patient registration being done on the national portal. Suspected cases are referred to Public Hospital, Nerul for further diagnosis and treatment.

To further strengthen this initiative, the Government of Maharashtra has provided a Cancer Van that will travel to key locations in Navi Mumbai. The van will conduct cancer screenings at the following sites:

May 21: Airoli General Hospital, Sector 3 (Nodal: Dr. Sachin Chitnis)

Health Centers: Digha, Ilthanpada, Chinchpada, Katkaripada, Airoli, Rabada

May 22: Namumpa School, Shramiknagar, Pawane (Nodal: Dr. Vandana Narayani)

Areas: Pawane, Nosil Naka, Ghansoli, Koperkhairane, Mahape

May 23: Juhugaon Ground, Juhugaon (Nodal: Dr. Vidya Verma)

Locations: Vashi, Turbhe, Indiranagar, Sanpada

May 24: Public Hospital, Nerul, Sector 15 (Nodal: Dr. Suresh Patil)

Areas: Shiravane, Nerul, Karve, CBD, Kukshet

Municipal Commissioner Dr Kailash Shinde has urged all men and women above 30 years of age to visit their nearest Urban Primary Health Centre for routine screening and make use of this special van service for further investigation if cancer is suspected. Early detection can save lives citizens are encouraged to take full advantage of this health initiative.
