Navi Mumbai: A 30-year-old man suffered critical burns after coming in contact with an overhead electric wire while travelling on the roof of a local train from Wadala to Panvel on Monday evening. The injured, identified as Ankur Pandey, was rushed to Vashi Municipal Hospital and later shifted to Mumbai’s J.J. Hospital for advanced treatment.

Incident Occurs Near Vashi Station; Train Services Temporarily Disrupted

According to railway police, Pandey had boarded the train roof at Mankhurd. As the train arrived at Vashi station around 5:10 p.m., he touched the live overhead wire, prompting passengers to alert police. Officers rushed to the scene, brought him down, and arranged immediate medical assistance.

Viral Video Shows Man Being Brought Down From Above Train

A video has gone viral on the internet showing passengers engaged in efforts to bring the man down. Three to four passengers can be seen climbed on top of the local train, attempting to pull the injured the man down.

Safety Concerns Raised Over Train Roof Travel

Police suspect Pandey may have climbed onto the roof with the intention of ending his life. The incident caused temporary disruption to Harbour Line services. "We are tracing his relatives and investigating the motive," said Vashi Railway Police Senior Inspector Kiran Undare.
