Revdanda Police have registered a case against a Navi Mumbai-based couple and a self-proclaimed tantrik for allegedly polluting multiple public water sources in Murud Taluka with black magic materials, in an attempt to break their daughter’s romantic relationship.

The incident took place on the morning of Sunday, when the couple, residents of Sector 23, Nerul, reportedly sought the help of a tantrik to perform occult rituals aimed at coercing their daughter to end an "undesirable" relationship. According to police, the tantrik performed rituals and gave them five enchanted bricks wrapped with amulets, along with vibhuti (sacred ash) and other suspicious items.

The accused then traveled from Nerul to Revdanda, and along the route from Salab Bridge to Tadwadi in Taluka Murud, they allegedly threw the bricks into various public wells, contaminating the water and spreading panic among villagers.

Local residents reportedly witnessed the suspicious activities and immediately alerted the authorities. "The materials found in the wells were meant to create fear and could have posed serious public health risks," said a police officer from Revdanda police station.1

According to police, the actions were found to be in violation of the Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and Other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013. In addition, a case has been registered under Section 279 of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) for voluntary corruption of public water sources.

All three accused were arrested late on Sunday night and the further investigations are on.
