A startling revelation has emerged from the CIDCO headquarters in Belapur, where the Estate Department responsible for handling critical files related to plots and housing units has reportedly become a zone of unchecked public access.

A local citizen awareness group has alleged that despite the presence of a high-security record room, created at significant cost to safeguard sensitive documents, videos and eyewitness accounts show unauthorized individuals frequently moving freely within the department. In some cases, these individuals are even seen personally examining official files without supervision.

This breach has raised serious concerns about the integrity of the department’s operations and the safety of crucial documents. The Sajag Nagarik Manch, a local citizen awareness group, has repeatedly written to CIDCO’s Managing Director, Vigilance Department, and Security Division, highlighting these issues.

According to CIDCO’s stated procedure, general public access to the Estate Department is restricted to between 2 PM and 5 PM, and only upon issuance of an official entry pass. However, insiders reveal that certain individuals are granted entry beyond these hours, with some reportedly staying on the premises as late as 7 or 8 PM—raising troubling questions about the nature of their access and influence.

The controversy gains further weight in light of recurring incidents where vital CIDCO documents have either gone missing or been stolen. Despite being aware of such incidents, the administration appears to have ignored persistent security lapses in the Estate Department.

"If a single officer can attend to only one citizen at a time, then what justifies the daily crowd inside the department?" asked a member of Sajag Nagarik Manch.

When contacted for a response, CIDCO PRO refrained from commenting on the matter.
