Navi Mumbai: The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is planning to introduce recreational activities such as boating at the holding pond in Sector 19, Koparkhairane, after Commissioner Dr. Kailas Shinde suggested the idea during a recent review visit. The Commissioner proposed that such amenities could enhance public engagement and generate revenue for the maintenance of nearby sewage treatment infrastructure.

The recommendation came as part of Dr. Shinde’s inspection of various ongoing projects under the Central Government’s AMRUT 2.0 scheme, aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure. During the visit, he directed officials to accelerate the pace of sewage pumping station works while ensuring quality standards are upheld.

The Commissioner inspected facilities in Vashi Sectors 3, 12, and 28, where construction of sewage pumping stations is in progress. He stressed the need to complete the works within the project’s stipulated deadlines and with strict adherence to quality norms.

Dr. Shinde also reviewed the ongoing construction of underground and elevated water tanks in Vashi Sector 10. He instructed officials to expedite the work and begin preparations for water distribution testing, a spokesperson from NMMC said.

Accompanied by City Engineer Shirish Aradwad, Additional City Engineer Arvind Shinde, and other key officials, the Commissioner emphasized that projects related to water supply and sewage management should be planned and completed in a way that ensures early utility for residents.
