As part of World Wetlands Day 2025, environmental groups Mangrove Soldiers and Save Navi Mumbai Environment are organizing a Mangrove Cleanup Drive on February 2. This initiative, supported by Neelsidhi Associates LLP, aims to promote wetland conservation and coastal biodiversity protection.

The cleanup drive, marking Week 233 of the ongoing campaign, will take place from 7am to 9 am at the ground near Shri Bamandev Underpass, next to TS Chanakya, Seawoods, Navi Mumbai. Volunteers, nature lovers, and concerned citizens are encouraged to participate in large numbers to make a visible impact.

Organizers have provided guidelines for participants, urging them to carry refillable water bottles and wear sturdy shoes and gloves. Trash bags and other necessary accessories will be available at the site, and volunteers are advised to wear comfortable outdoor clothing for ease during the cleanup.

“Wetlands play a crucial role in maintaining ecological balance, providing habitat for wildlife, and acting as natural carbon sinks. However, increasing pollution and encroachments threaten their existence, making conservation efforts like this vital,” Environment activist Sunil Agarwal said.

For those interested in joining the initiative, registration is available via the QR code on the official event poster. Additional details can be obtained by contacting 9773274296 or 8329213062.

With collective action, the organizers hope to protect and restore Navi Mumbai’s wetlands, ensuring a sustainable future for both the environment and local communities.
