Rabale MIDC police booked a man in his mid-twenties for allegedly sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl on Friday. The incident took place during a function where the girl had attended with her parents.
Police said that the victim had gone to attend a function near her residence with her family members and when she was playing alone, the accused took her to an isolated spot and assaulted her.
After committing the crime, the accused asked the survivor not to disclose anything to anyone and also threatened her with dire consequences if she did not act accordingly. He then ran away from the spot, the police said.
However, when the family returned home from the function, the survivor narrated the whole incident to her parents. The family then approached the police and registered a case against the person.
“We have booked the accused under sections 376, 323, 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 3, 4, 5 and 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. We are now looking for him and will arrest him soon”, said a police officer from Rabale MIDC police station.
