Navi Mumbai, June 16: The APMC police registered a case after two unidentified persons looted a 75-year-old woman of her gold jewellery worth Rs 80,000 on Monday.

According to the police, Ramratidevi Gupta, a resident of Turbhe, was walking towards Janata Market in the afternoon when the two unknown persons waylaid her. One of them told her that a woman who knew her was looking for her nearby.

Police said that convinced her that someone is waiting for her and asked her to accompany them. “The accused then took her to an isolated area under the flyover, and then snatched her gold chain and gold earrings holding her at knifepoint. After that, they ran away from the spot,” said an official from the APMC police station.

When the old woman returned home, he narrated the incident to her family members. The family then took her to the police station and lodged a complaint.

“We have registered a robbery case against the unidentified persons and started the investigation. We are also examining the CCTV footage of the nearby area to trace them,” said the official.
