A 27-year-old employee has been booked for allegedly stealing private videos and photos from his employer’s phone and blackmailing his wife for ₹5 lakh by threatening to leak the content. The accused, identified as Ankit Sunil Singh, has been detained by Turbhe MIDC Police on charges of extortion and criminal intimidation.

According to the police, Singh, a resident of Palava City, Dombivli, worked at a company in Turbhe MIDC. His employer had recently married and had stored honeymoon photos and videos on his phone. Singh allegedly transferred the private content to his own device.

He later approached the employer’s wife, demanding ₹5 lakh to keep the content private and threatened to make it viral if she refused to pay. When the employer found out, he fired Singh from his job. In retaliation, the accused allegedly shared the explicit content with other employees to defame the employer and his wife.

The employer then lodged a complaint at Turbhe MIDC Police Station, leading to Singh’s detention. The police seized his mobile phone, which was used to steal the content. The accused was later released after being served a legal notice as per protocol.
