A 8-year-old girl lost her life after being hit by a speeding trailer while crossing the road near the pre-gate signal of JNPT. The incident occurred around 6 pm when the girl was walking with her mother and two siblings.
The deceased has been identified as Jyoti Bhagwat Shinde, a resident of a slum near Naghara Phata in Uran. She lived with her parents and two younger brothers. On the day of the accident, the family was heading towards their home near Vadghar Phata and was crossing the JNPT-Panvel highway near the pre-gate area when the tragedy struck.
“The trailer was heading from JNPT towards Panvel at high speed when it hit Jyoti while she was crossing the road. The impact left her with severe injuries, and she succumbed on the spot,” a police from Nhava Sheva police station said.
Following the incident, Nhava Sheva Police booked the trailer driver for reckless driving and causing death due to negligence. He has been taken into custody, and further investigation is underway.
