Navi Mumbai: The Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a 29-year-old for allegedly in possession of 560 grams of marijuana (Ganja) worth Rs 14,000 along the Kalyan-Taloja road last week. The accused had brought in the contraband in a nylon bag and was supposed to deliver someone.
The Anti-Narcotics cell had received a tip-off that a person would come to sell marijuana or cannabis along the Kalyan-Taloja road. Based on the information, a team of Anti-Narcotics Cell laid a trap near Bombay Beer Company on Kalyan-Taloja Road around 2.15 pm on Thursday.
The accused identified as Datta Pawar, who lives in a slum, was seen carrying a white nylon bag.
When police caught and interrogated him, he was not giving a coherent reply following which he was frisked and found 560 grams of marijuana leaves, flowers, sticks and seeds in a bag with him and accordingly, the police seized the contraband and arrested him under the relevant sections of NDPS Act.
