Navi Mumbai: 24-year-old attacks neighbour for foiling theft attempt in Turbhe, held

Turbhe MIDC police arrested a 24-year-old man for allegedly attacking and injuring a 26-year-old man grievously in Thurbe store on Monday early morning. The victim had found him roaming near his house on Monday early morning and when he asked for reason, the accused allegedly attacked with a sharp edge weapon.

Polices said the accused was roaming near victim’s house for a purpose of theft that was foiled by the victim.

The complainant Sandip Kanojia woke up on Monday morning around 4.30 am when he and his wife heard someone’s movement near his house. Police said that Kanojia went out of his house to check, when he found the accused, Mahesh Halwai, who stays in the same area wandering outside. “When Kanojia asked what was he doing he there? Instead of giving a reply, he allegedly started abusing”, said a police official from Turbhe MIDC police station.

Later, Halwai tried to run away from there. However, Kanojia followed him and caught hold of him after chasing the accused. Then, Halwai attacked Kanojia with a sharp edge weapon on his hand and injured him grievously. “Kanojia and his wife went to a civic hospital for first aid and then registered a complaint”, said the official.

Meanwhile, the police registered a case against Halwai under section 324, 326 and 506 of IPC and later arrested him from his house on Monday night.
