In a swoop in the wee hours of Sunday, a score of TV artists and choreographers were detained after the police busted a rave party in Nashik district. On a tip-off, the police raided two adjoining villas, in Igatpuri, 120 km away from Mumbai.
These villas -- Sky Taj and Sky Lagoon -- are known to host similar parties for well-heeled Mumbaikars. Among those detained were actors and choreographers working with the Hindi film and television industry.
Officials confirmed that 12 of them were women and one was even a participant in the TV reality show ‘Bigg Boss’. Four women were linked to the South Indian film industry.
“The accused had gathered for a birthday party. We have done the medical tests and are now vetting the CCTV footage. We have also seized some drugs and arrested a peddler from Mumbai. Further investigations are on,” Nashik Superintendant of Police (SP) Sachin Patil said. Hookahs also did the rounds at the party
News agency PTI quoted the official as saying, “We are also looking for people who assisted in organising this party, where many came in high-end cars.”
“A woman of Iranian descent was arrested during the raid and a special team was sent to Mumbai, where a Nigerian national was picked up in connection with the case,” added SP Patil. A camera, tripod and some other objects have also been seized from the two adjoining villas in Nashik.
