Mumbai: The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) is yet to achieve its target of repairing potholes before September 15 when the devotees will bid adieu to Lord Ganesha.
Naresh Dahibhavkar, president, Brihanmumbai Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Samanvay Samiti (BSGSS) while talking to the Free Press Journal said, “We are not satisfied with the work done by the MCGM officials as the data provided is not relevant. We have appealed to civic authority that if there is a problem during the visarjan procession, the government and civic officials will be responsible.”
Apart from the potholes, the BSGSS had also demanded that a new visarjan spot be identified at Bandra Reclamation, but so far no call has been taken on it yet. “The civic officials and the government have said that the visarjan spot will be decided next year,” added Dahibhavkar.
There are around 10,000 mandals in the city and they are ready with back-up plan and that is usage of steel plates which will help the vehicle pass in a smooth way.
