A woman was killed after a landslide hit her house at Ambedkar Nagar in Kurla West on Sunday morning.

Identified as Lata Ramesh Salunkhe (53), the woman was rushed to Kurla nursing home where she was pronounced dead. The incident occurred at 10.30 am when her house collapsed due to a landslide that took place near her house.

“Some part of her house caved and she was declared dead on arrival at a nearby nursing home. Relief operations were carried out by fire brigade personnel who deployed two vehicles and a rescue van. There was no report of injuries to anyone else,” a fire brigade official said.

While speaking to FPJ, Kaptan Malik, Corporation of Ward (170), who arrived at the incident site, said, “The builder was already given a notice that this part of the building is in critical condition. The builder told the tenants to give him an initial amount and NOC and repair the building through another builder. But the builder and the tenants had a dispute among them which led to this incident today."

“There was slight rain as well last night due to which the landslide must’ve taken place. Mud and rocks fell on one room due to which the woman lost her life,” added Malik.
