Mumbai: Western Railway RPF celebrates ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’

To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Indian Railways is also contributing to create awareness about the glorious history of the country.

To commemorate 75 years of Independence of our nation, Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav is being observed across the country. To celebrate this auspicious occasion, Indian Railways is also contributing to create awareness about the glorious history of the country. In this very direction, a motorcycle rally of WR’s Railway Protection Force was flagged off from across all six Divisions of WR viz. Mumbai Central, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, Ratlam, Bhavnagar and Rajkot by the respective Divisional Railway Managers on 1st July 2022.

According to a press release issued by Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Rly, on 1st July 2022, a motorcycle rally was flagged off from all the divisional headquarters of WR which will cover 75 important railway stations over WR’s jurisdiction in Mumbai, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh to reach WR Headquarters on 15th July 2022.

Prakash Butani, General Manager (In–Charge) of WR will flag off the rally from WR HQs to the historical place of Sabarmati Ashram on 17th July 2022. A total of 88 RPF personnel of WR on 44 motorcycles participated in this rally. The selected team of WR will also be joined by the RPF team from Central Railway as well as West Central Railway at Sabarmati Ashram and thereafter, the combined team will reach National Police Memorial in New Delhi on 13th August covering major important cities en route.

Thakur further stated that the motorcycle rally of Mumbai Division’s Railway Protection Force was flagged off by G V L Satya Kumar, Divisional Railway Manager of Mumbai Central Division from Bandra Terminus along with other senior divisional officers.

The RPF team on board 15 motorcycles will visit 25 locations of the Division from Mumbai Central to Amalner. A mobile video wall highlighting the achievements of RPF will accompany the rally to create awareness about the role and responsibilities of RPF to the public. En route, the RPF Band party will also treat the public with their musical skills. As part of the program, freedom fighters and their family members will be honoured by RPF at Palghar, Valsad and Nandurbar.

Additionally, various other activities such as Run for Unity by staff and their families, Tree plantation drives, Cleanliness Campaign, Video display March as well as felicitating and honouring the freedom fighters etc. are also being organized. All these initiatives have commenced and will be continued as special drives till 15th August 2022.
