Mumbai: Western Railway commissions new Skywalk connecting Bandra Terminus to Khar Road

On a daily average, 42 trains originated/ destinated at Bandra Terminus. Over 12,500 long-distance passengers on daily average board trains from Bandra Terminus.

Western Railway has commissioned a new Skywalk, connecting Bandra Terminus to the suburban network at Khar Road station, for the convenience of passengers of outstation trains arriving and departing from Bandra Terminus.

On a daily average, 42 trains originated/ destinated at Bandra Terminus. Over 12,500 long-distance passengers on daily average board trains from Bandra Terminus.

According to Sumit Thakur, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the new Skywalk of 4.4 m wide and 314 m long has been commissioned between Bandra Terminus and Khar Road on 1st July 2022.

The total cost of the Skywalk is approx. Rs. 14 crore, and has been constructed using 510 MT structural steel, 20 MT Reinforcement steel & 240 cum of concrete.

With the commissioning of this Skywalk, Bandra Terminus is now directly connected with Khar Road station of the Mumbai suburban railway network. This new Skywalk will be of great convenience to outstation passengers.

Now, passengers can reach any of the platforms of Bandra Terminus by deboarding at Khar Road station and taking the Khar South FOB, which in turn is connected to the new Skywalk.

The Skywalk connects all the FOBs of Bandra Terminus station. With this, A total of seven FOBs and Skywalks have been commissioned in the Mumbai suburban section of Western Railway in the financial year 2022 - 23.
