Mumbai: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has withdrawn it's warning for heatwave for Tuesday, March 11. The weather department had earlier issued the heatwave warning from March 9 to March 11, however thanks to the early setting sea breeze, the temperature did reach upto 38 degrees Celsius for last two days. The mercury did not reach upto 38 degrees Celsius.
On Monday, the Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 37.2 degrees Celsius, which was 4.8 degrees above normal and Colaba observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 36.4 degrees Celsius, which was as much as 5.3 degrees Celsius above normal. Although, the IMD had withdrawn the warning for a heatwave for March 11, the hot and humid weather conditions will continue.

The IMD's outlook for Summer 2025 had already predicted heatwaves in March and above normal temperature from March to May. The heatwave on March 9 and 10 was the second heatwave in the period of 12 days. On February 25 and 26, the mercury in Mumbai had crossed 38 degrees Celsius.
Sushma Nair, scientist at IMD Mumbai said, "The temperature on Sunday was around 34 degrees Celsius despite heatwave warning because of the early setting of sea breeze. On Monday however we not easterly winds because of which the temperature was high. There is no heatwave warning for Tuesday, however, no large change in temperatures is expected."

Meanwhile, considering the consistent above normal temperatures in the city, the BMC has released guidelines for the citizens for heat stroke control and prevention. Citizens are advised to stay hydrated by consuming plenty of water and juices, avoid prolonged direct exposure to the sunlight, use loose cotton clothes and others. If heatstroke symptoms arises, citizens are advised to consume ORS and approach a medical practitioner.
