Mumbai: According to weather forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is set to experience Generally cloudy sky with Heavy rain along thunderstorms and gusty winds today on June 18.

The monsoon arrived early in Maharashtra, bringing heavy rains predicted for the next four days. The India Meteorological Department announced that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected, particularly in the Konkan and Madhya Maharashtra regions due to a low-pressure area in the Arabian Sea.

Districts such as Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg will experience intense rainfall today and tomorrow, with ongoing rain through June 20 and 21. Isolated areas in Palghar, Thane, and Mumbai are also forecasted to receive heavy showers today, easing to moderate rains later.

In the Ghats, particularly in Pune and Satara, significant rainfall is anticipated over the next four days, while Kolhapur will see heavy rains for two days followed by moderate precipitation. Nashik Ghats will experience heavy rain today before moderating.

Meanwhile, Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara districts are likely to have light to moderate rains throughout this period, with thunderstorms expected in Nashik, Dhule, and Nandurbar, along with possible thunderstorms in Jalgaon. Ahmednagar, Sangli, and Solapur may see light rain isolated areas. The Meteorological Department advises caution for residents in these areas, especially farmers, to prevent crop damage.

The monsoon, which entered Maharashtra early this year, has since spread throughout the state, becoming active again due to low-pressure systems.
