After a brief spell of chills in early February, Mumbai is experiencing sunny weather. Additionally, Mumbaikars now need to brace for hot and humid weather as the city will transition into summer season from next week.
On Sunday, Mumbai’s Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 35.9 degree Celsius, which was 4.3 degree Celsius above normal. Minimum temperature was recorded at 18.6 degree Celsius. While on Saturday, the maximum was 36.1 degrees Celsius, which was 4.5 degrees Celsius above normal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has already predicted a warm February this year, with above normal temperature.
As per local weather forecast for the next 48 hours temperature in Mumbai city and suburbs will be maximum at 36 degrees Celsius and minimum at 19 degrees Celsius. The skies will remain clear.
Notably, February 2024 was the hottest February recorded ever. However, the IMD officials say this February does not look to cross the record temperatures of last year. “The temperature is Mumbai will be above normal as per global standards. The change in wind patterns may result is temperature fluctuations, however the overall month’s mercury is expected to be above normal,” Sunil Kamble, Director of IMD Mumbai said.
For the coming week, the weather is Mumbai is expected to be hot with clear skies. As per weekly weather report of Santacruz observatory, from February 16 to 22 the maximum temperature in the city will range in between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius. While the minimum temperature will range between 18 and 20 degrees Celsius.
For the unversed, January 2025 was the third hottest January recorded in Mumbai. The maximum temperature had crossed 36 degrees Celsius on January 3 and overall month’s temperature too was above normal.
