Mumbai Weather Update: BMC Issues High Tide Alert For July 26 As City Braces For Continued Heavy Rainfall

The city is lashed with heavy rainfall for three consecutive days, receiving more than 100 mm rainfall in 24 hours and resulting in waterlogging in a few low-lying areas. The heavy downpour is expected to continue as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Mumbai, Thane and Palghar under Orange Alert (heavy and very heavy rainfall) for Thursday, July 24.

Mumbai: The city is lashed with heavy rainfall for three consecutive days, receiving more than 100 mm rainfall in 24 hours and resulting in waterlogging in a few low-lying areas.

IMD Predicts Continued Heavy Rainfall, Places Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar Under Orange Alert

The heavy downpour is expected to continue as the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has placed Mumbai, Thane and Palghar under Orange Alert (heavy and very heavy rainfall) for Thursday, July 24. While, the districts of Raigad and Ratnagiri are placed under Red Alert.

BMC Warns Citizens Against Visiting Beaches During High Tides From July 24–27

Meanwhile, the BMC has also issued alert for high tides for the next four days. The highest tide will be on Saturday, July 26 at 1.20 pm at the height of 4.67 meters from the sea level. The citizens are urged to not visit the beach, venture into the sea during the high tide period and follow instructions given by the authorities.

Weather Forecast Warns of Gusty Winds Up to 50 kmph Along With Heavy Rain

As per the local weather forecast, for next 48 hours, the skies in Mumbai city and suburbs will be generally cloudy with possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at a few places and there is a possibility of occasional gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph very likely. The maximum & minimum temperatures likely to be around 28 deg. C. and 23 deg. C.

IMD Extends Rainfall Warning in Maharashtra Till July 27

The IMD on Monday, issued weather warning of increase in heavy rainfall activity across Maharashtra till July 25. The warning was extended to July 27 on Wednesday.

As per the district weather, the districts which are placed under Orange Alert (heavy to very heavy rainfall) include Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, ghats of Nashik and parts of the Vidharbha region.

While, the districts placed under Red Alert (heavy to extreme heavy rainfall) include Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Kolhapur and Satara. The remaining districts of the state are under Yellow Alert.

The sea will experience high tide for four consecutive days from Thursday, July 24, 2025 to Sunday, July 27, 2025.

Thursday, July 24 - 4.57 meters at 11.57 am

Friday, July 25 at - 4.66 meters at 12.40 pm

Saturday, July 26 - 4.67 meters at 1.20 pm

Sunday, July 27 - 4.60 meters at 1.56 pm
