Mumbai: Wanted accused in murder case held after five years

The Mumbai crime branch has arrested a 24-year-old man from West Bengal five years after he allegedly committed a murder in Goregaon. The accused has been identified as Pintu Saradar who was arrested from Nadiya district of WB.

Soon after the murder in October 2016, the police had arrested three accused for the murder but Saradar remained elusive. Recently Assistant Police Inspector Bharat Ghone of crime branch unit 11 received specific information that Saradar has residing in Nadiya district. Accordingly he along with a crime branch team went to WB, nabbed him and brought him to Mumbai. He was later handed over to the Vanrai police station.

According to the officials, one Suresh Harijan a resident of Goregaon was killed after being assaulted by four men over monetary dispute on October 31, 2016. The Vanrai police them registered an offence of murder against four and arrested Vikas Mandal, 32, Pinesh Deonath, 27 and Subrato Vishwas, 25, while Saradar escaped and remained elusive. The police had already filed chargesheet against the three previously arrested accused persons.
