The Amboli police have registered a case against an unknown person for allegedly stealing and using the logo and name of an Andheri based Lounge Bar and introducing a crypto-currency in the market, so that people would believe that the said coins belong to the said bar, thereby not only cheating the company, but also those who would purchase the crypto-currency coins.

According to the police, the said lounge bar is situated at the Veera Desai Road, the complainant who is associated with the said bar had approached the police on July 2, and had lodged a complaint with the police stating that he had recently came across information that someone had stolen his company's logo and name and had introduced crypto-currency coins in the market, impersonating as the company thereby not only duping the company, but also the buyers of the said crypto-currency coins.

"Based on this complaint we have registered a case under sections 419 (Punishment for cheating by personation) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66C (punishment for identity theft) and 66D (punishment for cheating by personation by using computer resource) of the Information Technology Act and 104 (Penalty for selling goods or providing services to which false trade mark or false trade description is applied) of the The Trade Marks Act," said a police officer.

The police are now probing who had stolen the logo and misused the company's name to introduce crypto-currency and how many people have been duped by the fraudster so far.
