Mumbai: A 22-year-old engineering student, Anant Dwivedi, who was soon scheduled to return to Germany for an internship, died by suicide after jumping from the 45th floor of a high-rise residential tower in Goregaon. The incident has left his family and authorities searching for answers, as no suicide note was recovered.

Dwivedi was a final-year engineering student pursuing his studies in Germany. He had returned to Mumbai recently and was staying at his family’s apartment in Oberoi E-Square, Goregaon. The Dwivedi family, primarily based in Andheri, used the Goregaon flat occasionally.

According to police reports, in the early hours of Tuesday, Anant arrived at the building in an auto-rickshaw. As he did not have change, he told the rickshaw driver he would return in five minutes with the money. However, he never came back. Moments later, he was found to have jumped from the 45th floor of the building.

His Google Pixel smartphone was recovered from the scene, but no suicide note was found. Preliminary investigations have revealed that Anant was due to return to Germany soon to commence his internship. The exact reasons for his suicide remain unclear.

Goregaon Police have registered an accidental death report and are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning acquaintances to learn more. The ADR have registered in Aarey Police Station.

The incident took place at Oberoi E-Square, a residential complex in Goregaon. The Dwivedi family, originally based in Andheri, owns an apartment in the tower, which they occasionally use. Anant had recently flown back to Mumbai from Germany, where he was pursuing his engineering studies. The deceased and parents are basically from Mumbai. Anant went to Germany for study and came back to meet Parents in Goregaon.

According to police, Anant arrived at Oberoi E-Square in an auto-rickshaw early Tuesday morning. As he didn’t have change, he reportedly told the rickshaw driver he would return shortly with money. When he did not return for an extended period, the driver grew concerned. Moments later, Anant jumped from the 45th floor of the building.
