Mumbai: Mumbai witnessed massive traffic congestion on Sunday morning after a tempo overturned at the Andheri Bridge (Sahar Flyover) on the Western Express Highway, severely impacting the southbound traffic flow.

The incident, which occurred during peak office hours on Monday, April 28, left thousands of commuters stranded for several hours. However, the traffic was later restored after continued efforts of the authorities in about five hours.

A video shared on X by journalist Vivek Gupta showed the damaged vehicles after the crash. According to police officials, the accident took place near the Andheri Bridge, where a tempo lost control, crashed into multiple vehicles and overturned, blocking multiple lanes of the highway.

As a result, vehicles heading towards South Mumbai were stuck in long queues, moving at a crawling pace. The disruption caused major delays, with many office-goers reporting that they missed half of their workday due to the unexpected traffic jam.
