Mumbai: The Santacruz police have booked three men for allegedly recklessly driving a car under the influence of alcohol on the Juhu beach, which led to the vehicle getting stuck in the sand. The four-wheeler, which was seized later, could be pulled back after a two-hour struggle.

According to the FIR, on July 11 the Santacruz police personnel were patrolling near the beach when at around 10.15pm, they spotted a white car stuck near the shore, while the trio kept shouting.

They were identified as Najib Saiyyed, 42, a freelancer from Andhra Pradesh, Tarun Yadav, 36, a factory owner from Khar and Brijesh Soni, 33, a businessman from Madhya Pradesh. Upon inquiry, the police found that they were heavily drunk. Subsequently, the officials alerted the fire brigade, which called in a tractor and finally managed to pull back the vehicle.

The three men were then taken to the police station and given a stern warning. A case has been registered against them under sections 281 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act and the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.
