Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) commissioner SVR Srinivas held a review meeting on the proposed Sewri-Worli connector on Wednesday.
Since the civil work is expected to begin soon, a meeting was held to understand and overcome any obstacles that will impact the project work.
According to the MMRDA, which is the project implementing agency, key issues like measures to be taken to avoid bottlenecks and traffic dispersal in and around Worli once the work starts was discussed. Also discussion on rehabilitation of project affected people (PAPs) under the Slum Rehabilitation Scheme (SRA), diversion of nullah, utility lines, monorail station crossing issue and technical solution were spoken about at length.
FPJ had reported that the Sewri-Worli connector is one of the priority projects of the MMRDA chief.
The proposed project is a crucial connectivity as it will disperse traffic from the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL) and coastal road, once ready.
Interestingly, Aditya Thackeray, cabinet minister and son of chief minister Uddhav Thackeray, is also closely involved with the project work.
