Mumbai: On the evening of July 22, several areas of Mumbai witnessed changing weather conditions, with Churchgate and adjoining suburbs receiving heavy rainfall, while the rest of the city remained mostly dry throughout the day.

The rains, however, are expected to spread. According to the latest update, light rain showers are likely to occur in other parts of Mumbai by tonight. A video shared on X (formerly Twitter) by user @MudassirGoenka7 shows intense rainfall continuing in the Churchgate area, confirming that the heavy showers are currently localised to South Mumbai and nearby regions.

While the rainfall brought some relief from the recent humid conditions, citizens are advised to remain alert, especially in areas prone to waterlogging, as weather activity may pick up in other parts of the city during the night.

Mumbai Weather Update: IMD Issues Alert for Increased Heavy Rainfall Over the Next 4 Days

Mumbai experienced heavy rainfall on Monday morning, causing waterlogging in multiple areas such as Andheri Subway, Powai, Sakinaka, and LBS Road in Kurla. Many office-goers were left stranded as moderate to heavy rain continued throughout the day, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue Nowcast alerts. Between 8:30 am and 11:30 am, several areas recorded significant rainfall, including Santacruz (72 mm), Juhu Airport (65 mm), Ram Mandir (37 mm), and Chembur (23 mm).

Mumbai and nearby districts such as Thane and Palghar have been placed under an Orange Alert (heavy to very heavy rain) until 8:30 AM Tuesday, followed by a Yellow Alert (heavy rain) for the next four days. Meanwhile, Raigad and Ratnagiri are under Orange Alert for five days starting Monday. Other districts like Pune, Satara, and Sangli have also been issued Orange Alerts by the IMD.
