Mumbai: Railway Employee And Accomplice Booked For Forging Government Emails To Dupe Job Seekers

An investigation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Crime Intelligence Branch at Kalyan (Central Railway) has unearthed a racket involving forged government documents and spoofed email ID used to cheat unemployed individuals under the pretext of offering government jobs in the Indian Railways.

Mumbai: An investigation by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Crime Intelligence Branch at Kalyan (Central Railway) has unearthed a racket involving forged government documents and spoofed email ID used to cheat unemployed individuals under the pretext of offering government jobs in the Indian Railways.

The inquiry, led by Sunil Kumar Sharma, RPF in-charge of the crime intelligence branch Kalyan, was initiated following allegations of misuse of the official email ID of the Central Railway’s Principal Chief Security Commissioner’s office at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT).

The investigation revealed that an employee of Western Railway (WR), in collusion with others, had forged documents and emails to dupe job aspirants.

Based on Sharma's findings, the Government Railway Police (GRP) at CSMT lodged an FIR (No. 1067/2024) on December 14, 2024, against two individuals: Sanjay Shukla, a technician (Grade 3) at the Virar Car Shed in WR, and an alleged accomplice, Rohit Singh, whose address remains unidentified.

According to sources, Sanjay Shukla is not only a Western Railway employee but also a prominent figure in an unrecognized railway union.

The accused have been charged under multiple sections of the Bombay Non-Cognizable Act (BNS), including 318(4)BNS - Cheating, 336(2)BNS - Forgery for the purpose of cheating, 336(3)BNS - Forgery with intent to use forged documents, 338 BNS - Forging valuable documents and 340(2)BNS - Use of forged documents. The investigation is being led by Police Inspector Pradeep Ghanshyam Salunkhe of GRP/CSMT.
