Mumbai: Mumbai, where local transport has always been a lifeline for its citizens, the private bus operators are all set to go on a indefinite strike from July 1. They have threatened to cancel all the services till their demands are met, reported Mid Day.

School buses, aggregator buses like Uber, and private transport buses won't be on the roads. This will severely affect the commuters.

Murad Naik of Mumbai bus Malak Sanghatana told Mid Day that if the government does not abide to their demands till June 30, they will go on an indefinite strike from the next day. This is a unanimous decision, and they will launch a 'key down' protest of all vehicles.

Why are they protesting?

Murad told Mid Day that they are protesting against the implementation of e-challans, unresolved infrastructure shortcomings, and ongoing departmental issues that continue to severely affect transport operations.

"The strike call has received overwhelming support from private bus operators and all passenger transport segments, including school transport, employee transport, Cityflo, Uber operators, and intrastate bus services," he added.
