Mumbai: The MCGM has been criticized for not carrying out the road repair work properly this year, as the torrential rains in the city have led to report maximum number of potholes on the city roads affecting the common man.
According to the data received from the civic body as on July 14 this year, there were 977 potholes on the roads out of which 908 were repaired. Last year on the same date, there were 1,781 potholes out of which 1,542 were repaired.
The MCGM has scrapped the citizen’s pothole tracking site www.voiceofcitizen.com where the citizens used to report the pothole and were able to keep track of the repair work.
As per the data collected by the MCGM from the ward level which is their old method – On July 14, the G north ward recorded the highest number of potholes – 62 – all were repaired. Of the 75 in the R south ward in the western suburbs, 58 were repaired and L ward in the eastern suburbs 112 potholes and 102 were attended.
