Mumbai : The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai has claimed to have repaired 90 percent of the potholes across the city. The total no. of complaints for pothole in the city has reached 1,566, out of which the corporation claims to have ‘repaired’ 1,395.
According to the civic report, the total no. of pothole complaints in the island city is 541 out of which 511 have been attended. The report states that there was a false complaint reported at the G north ward (Dadar). The civic body in its pothole report has also claimed to have repaired 477 potholes out of the 560 in western suburbs and 390 potholes out of the 465 in the eastern suburbs.
A senior civic official said, “Our officials are working hard towards repairing the city potholes. We have reduced the toll of potholes in the city compared to last year. The potholes are being strictly attended by our department within 24 hours of its complaint.”
The total pothole complaints reported till July 23 is 1,566 whereas last year it was 1,951 complaints on the same date. However, last year, the total potholes pending were 192 whereas this year it is 171.
The Free Press Journal had previously reported that the MCGM has been focusing on the potholes of Western Express Highway whereas the potholes at the Eastern Express Highway and the Lal Bahdur Shastri Marg were unattended for a very long time. Moreover, many of the potholes were ‘repaired’ but still they reappeared on the city roads. The locals alleged that the authorities had filled the potholes with mud and temporary mix due to which the potholes were washed away following a downpour.
