Mumbai: Six members of a South Mumbai family have been booked for murder following the custodial death of 41-year-old Vishal Vishwakarma, who was accused of stalking and molesting their six-year-old daughter. The Pydhonie police registered a First Information Report (FIR) for assault and murder against the family members after the post-mortem report indicated that Vishwakarma’s death was unnatural.
The incident occurred on February 15 in Khadak, Dongri, when the family allegedly caught Vishwakarma, assaulted him severely and then handed him over to the Pydhonie police, reported Times of India. According to an official, "On February 15, we registered an FIR under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused; but within a day, he was hospitalised."
Post-mortem Report Reveals Startling Update
Vishwakarma’s condition worsened and he died at JJ Hospital on February 16. The post-mortem report revealed internal injuries as the cause of death, categorising it as unnatural. While doctors noted that Vishwakarma was a drug addict, physically weak and suffering from gangrene, they concluded that internal injuries from the assault contributed significantly to his death.

An official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, stated, "There were many other factors, such as his poor health and gangrene, but the primary reason for his death was the internal injuries caused by the beatings."
Following this revelation, the police registered a murder case against the six family members involved. Further investigations are underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to Vishwakarma’s death.
