Mumbai: In two separate incidents, Mumbai Police have registered cases against motorists for drunk and reckless driving, endangering public safety in South Mumbai and the eastern suburbs.
In the first case, a 34-year-old man, Karan Kamlesh Gandhi, was apprehended by Gamdevi Police during a late-night naka bandi near Cadbury Junction on B.D. Road. Police constable Prashant Digambar Tetambe, along with his team, noticed the accused riding his Suzuki Access scooter (MH-01-EK-1011) in a rash and zig-zag manner from Haji Ali towards Peddar Road at around 3:25 am on April 2.
He was detained and taken to the police station, where a breath analyser test conducted by traffic police revealed an alcohol level of 188 mg per 100 ml, confirming he was heavily intoxicated. A case has been registered against him at Gamdevi Police Station for drunk and negligent driving.
In a separate incident, Mulund Police booked a 35-year-old man, Inder Amar Awuduji, for drunk driving and triple-seat riding. The accused was intercepted by a police patrol team at around 2:30 am on April 3 near P.K. Road, Mulund West, after he was spotted riding a Jawa motorcycle (MH-04-KG-7000) with two pillion riders while shouting loudly.
Police chased and stopped the vehicle near Buddha Vihar on Dumping Road. During questioning, officers noticed a strong smell of alcohol. A breath analyser test conducted by the traffic department showed 91.8 mg of alcohol per 100 ml, confirming intoxication.

The accused was accompanied by two individuals identified as Arvind Dev Singh (27) and Ravindra Vijay Jaygadi (30). The vehicle was seized and parked at the police station premises.
Police have registered a case against Awuduji at Mulund Police Station for driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, and violating traffic norms by carrying more passengers than permitted. Further investigation in both cases is underway.
