As per the D B Marg Police, the arrested individuals had entered India illegally via the Tripura-Bangladesh border through land routes. DCP (Zone 2) Mohit Garg confirmed that 19 Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended in separate operations and that legal action is being pursued.

Police sources revealed that confidential intelligence led them to suspect the presence of several illegal Bangladeshi immigrants in the D B Marg area. Acting on this information, police teams conducted raids in different localities and arrested 19 individuals.

During interrogation, the accused admitted to crossing the border through the Novakhali region in Bangladesh before reaching Kolkata. There, they procured forged documents, which they later used to settle in Mumbai. The illegal immigrants had secured jobs across the city with the help of a human trafficking network that facilitated their journey from the border to Mumbai.

The police have initiated deportation proceedings for the arrested individuals, and further investigation is underway.
