Three BMC staffers including an official from the Markets Department have been arrested by the Mumbai Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in a bribery case.

The accused public servants have been identified as chief inspector of BMC S.Y. Gholap and staffers T.M. Kadu and S.R. Kondvilkar.

According to the ACB, the complainant was given a 225 Square Feet unit by the BMC in a road cutting operation carried out in 2022.

There is an vacant space in front of unit of the complainant where the complainant teach yoga to small children since 2023.

Since the complainant was teaching yoga at the vacant space of the BMC, the BMC's Market Department had sent two notices dated 01/10/2024 and 19/10/2024 to the complainant.

BMC officer Gholap had told the complainant that if he doesn't want to get third notice, then he will have to pay Rs. 10,000 every month.

As the complainant did not want to pay bribe to the public servant, he approached the ACB and filed a complaint on 21/04/2025.

On Tuesday, the ACB laid a trap and apprehended the accused public servants for allegedly accepting bribe from the complainant.

The accused public servants were produced before the court which remanded them to two days ACB custody.
