Mumbai: A brief standoff between Hindu Right Wing members and Wadala Police unfolded on procession for the Ram Navami route from Shri Bhole Mandir to Hanuman Tekdi Mandir located in Wadala.

The confrontation, which lasted nearly 2–3 hours, was reportedly over police permissions. Despite the initial friction, the procession eventually moved ahead peacefully with participation from 1,000 to 1,200 people, as confirmed by police officials.

DCP Mohit Garg clarified that while permission had been granted for a procession on April 6 — the day of Ram Navami — no such approval was given for today’s rally. However, Hindu Right Wing members proceeded with the procession, leading to heightened tensions.

Hindu Right Wing workers alleged that the police resorted to lathi-charge. DCP Garg refuted these claims, stating that the procession was conducted peacefully and no such force was used.

The disagreement reportedly began when Hindu Right Wing tried to carry out the procession without fresh police permission. As police denied clearance, the situation escalated with clashes between Hindu Right Wing workers and police personnel. Almost 30 Hindu Right Wing members were detained, prompting a protest outside the police station.

Following discussions and intervention, the procession was eventually allowed to proceed without further incident. A heavy police presence remained in the Wadala area to ensure law and order.

The incident occurred after Hindu Right Wing members allegedly proceeded with a religious rally without official permission, prompting police intervention.

The clash occurred as a Ram Navami procession was taken out without prior permission. Police had earlier denied approval for the rally. Despite this, the procession moved ahead, prompting police intervention.
