Mumbai News: Special ACB Court Convicts Former Andheri RTO Official And Aide In 11-Year-Old Bribery Case; 14 Convictions In 2025 So Far

A special Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sessions court had recently convicted the then Assistant Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and a private person in a 11-year-old corruption case. The statistics provided by the Maharashtra ACB has revealed that so far this year, 14 persons, including 11 public servants have been convicted in 10 cases related to corruption.

Mumbai: A special Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sessions court had recently convicted the then Assistant Regional Transport Officer (RTO) and a private person in a 11-year-old corruption case. The statistics provided by the Maharashtra ACB has revealed that so far this year, 14 persons, including 11 public servants have been convicted in 10 cases related to corruption.

Those convicted have been identified as Rajendra Eknath Nerkar, Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Andheri (W) RTO, and private person Jayprakash Moreshwar Dalvi.

According to the ACB, accused Rajendra Nerkar, while working in the capacity of public servant, in order to return bus-related documents of the complainant had demanded a bribe of Rs 1500. Dalvi had accepted the said bribe at the behest of Nerkar, ACB officials claimed. ACB Mumbai had registered a case in this regard and had arrested the accused persons involved.

After completing the investigation of the said crime, a chargesheet was submitted by the ACB in the court in 2014. At the end of the hearing, the charges against the accused persons were proved with strong evidence and on 06/05/2025 the court had sentenced 4 years imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 50,000, while Dalvi has been sentenced to three years imprisonment, along with a fine of Rs 10,000.
