Mumbai News: Resident Raises Concern Over Potted Plants Blocking Road On Swatantra Sainik Madhukar Digambar Despande Marg In Goregaon; BMC Responds

Mumbai: Resident of Goregaon posted a video of the potted plants that were not properly taken care of causing menace on the Swatantra Sainik Madhukar Digambar Despande Marg In Goregaon. The resident posted the video on X page tagging BMC in the caption of the post, to which the civic body has assured to work on.

In a recent post made by resident, Shilpa Shirodkar, on her X page, (@shilpa797654) raised concern over the damaged and neglected plants on the Swatantra Sainik Madhukar Digambar Despande Marg near the St. Thomas Church in Goregaon.

The caption of the post stated, "गोरेगाव पूर्व सेंट थामस चर्चने रस्त्यावर कुण्ड्या ठेऊन अतिक्रमण केले आहे पूर्वी हा स्वातंत्र्य सैनिकाच्या नावाचा फलक इथे होता तो का हालवला? @mybmc पसाऊथ शाळा भरताना आणि सुटताना इथे प्रचंड वाहतूक कोण्डी होते तरी हे अतिक्रमण ताबडतोब काढून रस्ता मोकळा करावा"

The post translates to: 'Goregaon East St. Thomas Church has encroached on the road by placing pots. Earlier, this freedom fighter's name plaque was here, why was it moved? @mybmc PaSouth There is a huge traffic jam here during school hours and when they leave, but this encroachment should be removed immediately and the road should be cleared.'

The resident pointed out that the trees cause menace when there is rush on the road especially when the children go to school and leave, causing unnecessary issues and traffic on the road making the area conjusted. The resident urged the civic body, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to remove the poorly potted plants from the road and clear the area.

Through the X post, the resident also enquired on the whereabouts of a previously planted plaque dedicated to Swatantra Sainik Madhukar Digambar Despande, on whom the road was named after and asked why was it removed.

BMC's Response

In the response BMC started of by thanking the user for bringing the issue under their notice and affirmed that the responsible authorities have been informed about the issue, and the request to resolve the issue has been made.

The civic body responded to the post, by stating "आम्हाला माहिती दिल्याबद्दल धन्यवाद. आम्ही आमच्या @mybmcWardPS विभागाला तक्रारीचे निवारण करण्यासाठी विनंती केली आहे."
