Mumbai: The Powai Police have registered an FIR against four Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers for allegedly assaulting a non-Marathi-speaking security guard. The accused have been identified as Ajinkya, Vijay Nikam, Sanjay Mule, and Mahesh Giram, all associated with MNS.

According to the Powai Police, the incident took place on Monday night at the L&T building in Powai. The security guard, Bhavaniprasad Aniruddha, got into an argument with a local Marathi-speaking individual named Ajinkya over an undisclosed issue. During the altercation, the guard, who hails from North India and does not speak Marathi, reportedly said the phrase “Marathi gaya tel lene” (a dismissive remark).

This statement allegedly enraged the MNS workers present at the scene, who then physically assaulted the security guard. Despite his repeated claims that he was not proficient in Marathi, the MNS workers insisted that he should learn the language and speak respectfully. They justified their actions by arguing that his remark insulted the Marathi language. The police have initiated an investigation into the matter, and further action will be taken based on the findings.
