Mumbai: Revered Jain monk Tirthbhadrasuriji Maharaja has successfully compiled classical ragas crafted by Jain monks over 400 years ago into a new book titled Raagopanishad. The book along with a holy classical music album, which claims to heal ailing patients from different diseases, will be inaugurated on March 8 by chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

The documentary marvel of the ancient Indian ragas, Raagopanishad, is a tribute to the country’s musical heritage and an effort to preserve the perennial treasures passed down through generations. Tirthbhadrasuriji Maharaja has researched and compiled these ragas after years of efforts and has come up with the book along with a special music album.

The 1,000-page ‘Raagopnishad’ will boast 38 raagmalas with over 50 diverse ragas, 958 verses woven into more than 90 enchanting ragas, description of 150 ancient musical instruments, some dating back to almost 2,500 years and 126 ancient ragas revived from hand-written manuscripts. The book available in both Hindi and English will also feature 90 ‘raga chitras’, which are 900-year-old raga paintings.

The music album, directed and composed by Dr. Bharat Balvalli, consists of 81 verses meticulously composed in their original form from the treasure trove of 958 verses. These compositions have been sung in their original form by renowned singers like Ustad Rashid Khan, Ulhas Kashalkar, Shankar Mahadevan, Sonu Nigam, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Javed Ali, Osman Mir and many more. All the compositions of the album have been mixed and mastered at Yashraj Studios.

The album is being presented as an acoustic medicine which is claimed to heal ailing patients from serious illnesses. It has also claimed 99% positive results in a practical scientific research that has been done with 80 compositions on different diseases. The revered monk and the community have announced to host events across the globe to practice the therapeutic power of music.
