Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have registered a case against the head of the forensic medicine department at KEM Hospital in Mumbai for allegedly molesting a fellow doctor’s wife and their two minor daughters. The First Information Report (FIR) was filed on Sunday at Bhoiwada Police Station, though the incident reportedly dates back to 2015.

According to officials, the accused has been booked under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including Section 74 (criminal force with intent to outrage modesty), Section 352 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), and Section 351(2) (criminal intimidation), according to The Indian Express report. He has also been charged under Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police said that a written complaint was previously submitted and, following verification, an FIR was formally registered. Statements from individuals connected to the case are currently being recorded. According to the report, the complaint alleges that the HOD not only molested the doctor’s daughters, aged 15 and 9 at the time, but also threatened and verbally abused their father, who works as a professor at the hospital.

Notably, the complainant's husband had been suspended a month ago following sexual harassment allegations by six women doctors. These complaints had been submitted to the now-accused HOD and the hospital's dean.

Bombay HC Orders Prompt Action on Waterlogging at KEM Hospital, Issues Notice to BMC Amid Monsoon Flood Concerns

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday voiced strong concerns regarding the waterlogging incident at KEM Hospital on May 26, which occurred during heavy rainfall. In response, the court directed the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to conduct an immediate inspection of the hospital premises and recommend necessary corrective measures.

This directive came after media reports showed patients forced to sit in ankle-deep water inside the hospital, raising alarm about the impact of monsoon flooding on critical healthcare facilities.
