Chavan, arrested in May, is accused of duping at least 20 people of Rs 24.78 crore by promising them flats in Mumbai, Thane, and Pune under the state government’s quota at concessional rates. However, police sources said that since some victims were refunded, the net scam amount now stands at around Rs 19 crore.
