Mumbai: In a continued effort to make the Andheri Station area more traffic- and pedestrian-friendly, encroachments on multiple roads surrounding the station have been permanently cleared, ensuring smoother traffic flow and more space for pedestrians.

According to BJP MLA Ameet Satam, all encroachments around the Andheri Station area including SV Road, JP Road, Masjid Galli, Gazdar Road, and MA Road have been removed over the past couple of months. “The police and BMC have played a very active role in this initiative. Encroachments that had existed for many years have been permanently eliminated, making the Andheri Station area significantly clearer for both traffic movement and pedestrian access,” said Satam.

The Andheri Station area sees heavy footfall due to the presence of the railway station, metro station, and bus depot.

Previously, the area had become notorious for illegal encroachments. Citizens and pedestrians faced a daunting task navigating the congested lanes, leading to traffic chaos and safety risks. These issues also placed a considerable burden on traffic police.
