Mumbai: A 45-year-old carpenter lost his life after falling from the under-construction Seth Arveta building in Kanjurmarg on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Jiut Manjhi. Following the incident, the Park Site Police have registered a case against the building contractor for negligence.

Jiut Manjhi, a resident of Dombivli, was working for Mahalaxmi Construction Company and was assigned carpentry work at the Seth Arveta building. On Wednesday morning, as per his routine, he reported to work and was engaged in tasks on the first floor. Around 9:30 AM, he lost his balance and fell.

Manjhi got caught on a wooden bracket near the wall between the first three floors, sustaining severe injuries. His co-workers immediately rushed him to Mulund Agarwal Hospital, where doctors declared him dead before admission. Upon receiving the report, the Park Site Police arrived at the scene, took custody of the body, and sent it for a post-mortem examination.

During the investigation, police found that the building contractor had failed to implement proper safety measures, which led to Manjhi’s tragic death. Subsequently, based on a complaint by his son, Akash Manjhi (23), police have registered a case against the contractor under charges of causing death due to negligence.
