Mumbai: Central Railway’s Vigilance Team has uncovered an illegal operation involving transportation of banned tobacco products through railway’s parcel booking system.
Acting on a tip-off and following sustained surveillance, the Vigilance Team conducted a targeted inspection of parcel consignments arriving by Train no 11056 Gonda-LTT Godan Express on 13th August 2025.

"The Vigilance team along with RPF personnel arrived at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus before the arrival of the train. As soon as the train arrived, the team swung into action and zeroed in on a consignment booked from Gonda to LTT." said an official adding that consignment of 10 packages weighing 564 kgs were opened in presence of Chief Parcel Supervisor and RPF as witness and items like flavoured chewing tobacco and flavoured pan masala and other banned tobacco products were found. The entire consignment worth Rs 6.00 lakhs was seized by the Vigilance Team and handed over to RPF personnel for further action.
