Mumbai News: Cargo Vehicle Hits Parked Akasa Air Aircraft During Unloading At CSMIA Terminal 1, Damages Wing

Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) witnessed a minor accident in the parking bay where a cargo container vehicle hit a parked aircraft belonging to Akasa Air. While no passenger was present on board, the minor crash did not prove injurious to any crew as well.

Mumbai: Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) witnessed a minor accident in the parking bay where a cargo container vehicle hit a parked aircraft belonging to Akasa Air. While no passenger was present on board, the minor crash did not prove injurious to any crew as well.

On Monday, an Akasa Air aircraft suffered minor damage after it was hit by a cargo container vehicle, belonging to Bird Worldwide Flight Services (BWFS), while the aircraft was parked at the airport’s bay A-7. The aircraft was parked at the airport after it arrived from Bangalore as Flight QP-1736 and was scheduled to fly to Delhi as flight no. QP-1410 at 7.05am on Tuesday.

During unloading operations, the container vehicle was turning towards the front side of the aircraft to unload goods.when it hit the right-side wing of the stationed aircraft and damaged the wing as well as the container.

Following this, the airline grounded the aircraft and arranged a replacement aircraft, which was parked at the same airport. The driver was also made to undergo a breath analyser test, which turned out to be negative.

An Akasa Air spokesperson said, “The aircraft is currently undergoing a thorough inspection and we are investigating this incident with the third party ground handler.”
