The Worli police have booked a 30-year-old man for drunk and dangerous driving after his car crashed into a divider on the Bandra Worli Sea Link around 1.43am on Sunday. Hetul Ramjiyani, a resident of Ghatkopar and his two friends, Parth Limbani, 32, and Nareshkumar Pokar, 47, — both from Kutch, Gujarat – were returning from Haji Ali when the incident occurred on northbound Road No 7.

All three suffered minor injuries. Limbani and Pokar were treated at Paras Nursing Home in Kandivali West. Police found the vehicle mounted on the divider and suspected Ramjiyani was intoxicated due to a strong smell of alcohol. A medical test at JJ Hospital confirmed he was under the influence.

He has been booked under Sections 185 (driving under the influence) and 184 (dangerous driving) of the Motor Vehicles Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. A police officer said, “We have issued a notice to the accused, as the sections are bailable. There are no prior records of drunk driving against him.”
