Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will set up dialysis centres at its peripheral hospitals in Borivali, Mulund, Ghatkopar, and Kandivali under a public-private partnership (PPP) model for a period of 10 years. BMC patients will be charged Rs 500 per dialysis session, while patients covered under government schemes will be billed as per the approved rates.

Facilities to Ease Burden on Sion and KEM Hospitals

At present, many kidney patients who require regular dialysis, depending on their health condition, have to rely on Sion, KEM, and other state-run hospitals. To save time, several patients opt for nearby private centres instead. Once dialysis services begin at these peripheral centres, patients will no longer need to travel to Sion, KEM, and other overburdened state-run hospitals.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has floated tenders inviting contractors to set up dialysis centres on a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

The centres are planned at Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Hospital in Chinchpada, Borivali (East), Harilal Bhagwati Municipal Hospital in Borivali (West), M.T. Agrawal Municipal Hospital in Mulund (West), Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Hospital in Kandivali (West), and Seth V.C. Gandhi and M.A. Vora Municipal Hospital in Rajawadi, Ghatkopar (East).

Tender Floated for Setting Up and Operating Centres for Up to 30 Years

As per the tender, the appointed contractors will establish and operate the dialysis centres under the Civic Health Collaboration Model for a period of 10 years, with a provision for two extensions of 10 years each, allowing operations for up to 30 years.

The BMC will provide space at a nominal annual rent, such as 74.322 sq. m at Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule Hospital in Borivali (East) for Rs 85,523 annually, and 211.21 sq. m at M.T. Agrawal Municipal Hospital in Mulund (West) for Rs 2.03 lakh annually.

Highest Concession Fee Bidder to Be Selected, Space Provided at Nominal Rent

The bidder quoting the highest concession fee will be selected, and the first year’s concession fee must be paid in advance within one month of the issuance of the Letter of Acceptance, at the time of signing the Concession Agreement.

Also Watch:

According to a senior official from BMC’s Health Department, patients enrolled under the MJPJAY and Ayushman Bharat schemes will be charged as per the scheme rates, while BMC patients not covered under these schemes will be charged Rs 500 for each dialysis session.
